Cerritos surf guide

Santa Lucia de Los Cerritos, commonly called Cerritos, is located about 45 minutes north of Cabo San Lucas on the Pacific side of the Baja Peninsula, near Todos Santos. This spot offers a mix of surfing conditions and beach character, making it a decent option compared to nearby spots. While it might not reach the level of Pedrito, Cerritos has its share of fun waves that can attract a crowd, especially on weekends and holidays.

The surf here is pretty versatile, handling swells from 1.2 to 3 meters (4 to 10 feet). The optimal direction for swells is Northwest, but South swells also create some good A-frames, especially in the protected area behind the headland. For more exciting rides, head to the right that breaks off the north end during strong winter swells; it tends to collect all the fun when it connects with the sandbar. You'll find waves suitable for everyone, from beginners to more advanced surfers, depending on the swell size. Tides work well at low, mid, and high, with low tide making the waves steeper and faster. The beach usually has fun peaks spread out nicely, but watch out for a few beginner surfers around the popular spots.

Access is straightforward with parking right at the beach, and while it gets busy in the afternoons as surfers look to escape north winds, you can still find some waves to yourself early in the day. Just be aware that the local vibe includes a mix of Todos Santos and Cabo locals, so keep it friendly. Overall, Cerritos is a solid spot to check out if you’re looking for a variety of wave types, perfect for longboards, funboards, and any other board you might have in your quiver.
