Chapman's Pool is a bit of a hidden gem located near Worth Matravers. It's not the easiest place to get to, so it sees less crowd than other spots. The car park at Renscombe Farm is the closest access point, but keep in mind it's a long and steep walk down to the bay, which might be a workout before you even hit the water.
When it comes to surfing here, it's mainly for the experienced guys. The waves break over uneven reefs on either side of the bay, offering both left and right waves. The best swells come from the southwest, but you can also catch decent action with swells from the south and west. The spot handles swell sizes around 3ft (about 0.9 meters), with mid tide being the ideal time to paddle out. If the wind is blowing from the northeast, that's when you’ll want to be out there, as it helps create better conditions.
Due to its remote location, you won’t see a lot of surfers here, so you might just find the perfect little wave to yourself. It’s vital to be mindful of your skills, as this spot is more suitable for those with expert ability, due to the tricky reef and variable conditions. With the right swell and wind, Chapman's Pool can offer some fun sessions, even if it’s not a guarantee every time.
