Freswick Bay surf guide

Freswick Bay is a surf spot that offers a mix of beach and rock ledge breaks, perfect for those looking to catch some waves. It's located in a sheltered area, making it a decent choice for surfers when conditions align. Keep in mind that the spot is known for being inconsistent and really needs a sizable northeast (NE) or southeast (SE) swell to work well. Surfers generally park at the end of the northern access lane right by the beach to get to the action.

The surf here typically changes with the tide, and you’ll find low tide beach break peaks, as well as a mid tide right off the rocks at the south end of the bay. The optimal swell direction is northeast, but southeast swells can also feed the waves. The spot can handle swells as small as 2 feet (about 0.6 meters) and is suitable for intermediate surfers. You'll notice waves breaking both left and right, depending on the setup. When it comes to wind, a west wind is preferable at Freswick Bay, no matter the tide height.

Because of its unique setup, the spot can experience some variability in conditions, so be ready for anything. The combination of rock and sand breaks provides a bit of diversity for surfers looking for different types of waves. Just remember to keep an eye on the swell forecasts and head out when the conditions look promising for a session!
