Indicas surf guide

Indicas is a surf spot located in the Bahamas, known for its unique waves and lively atmosphere. This spot tends to draw a crowd, especially when the conditions are just right. When it starts firing, it can deliver some impressive rides, but you'll often have to share the waves with other surfers looking to score the same barrels.

The surf at Indicas mainly breaks over a shallow, live coral reef, offering both lefts and some decent rights. For the best sessions, you’ll want to catch it with a northeast swell, which can bring the waves up to 6 ft (about 1.8 meters) and even double overhead during big winter swells. It usually needs to be headhigh (around 1.2 meters) or more to really start working, throwing out some thick, slabby tubes that can be quite rewarding for expert surfers. However, it’s a bit fickle and needs the perfect swell direction to stay open and makeable. Low to mid tide is preferable here, so plan your sessions accordingly.

While Indicas is often regarded as the best wave in Hopetown, it’s vital to be aware of the sharp, hungry reef if you’re looking for those right-handers. It's really meant for experienced surfers who know how to handle air drops and deep barrels. Just make sure to keep an eye on the swell and wind direction, with west winds usually being ideal. Plan ahead for the tides and enjoy the ride when you get the chance!
