La Coudoulière is a popular surf spot located on the Six-Fours peninsula. This area is known for its diverse surf scene and a good variety of conditions for surfers. The spot is especially favored for its unique setup that attracts surfers looking for right-hand waves. It’s often a go-to place for those wanting to catch some quality surf without venturing too far from the beach.
This location works best with a SouthWest swell, but it can also handle swells from the South and West. It’s a bit tricky since the surf generally requires a bit of experience; so, it's more suited for intermediate surfers. The waves can start to break at about 2 feet (0.6 meters) and can get fun, especially when the wind is coming from the East. You’ll notice that the waves break over uneven reef, giving you that classic point break feel. Depending on the tide, you can find decent waves at low, mid, and high tide, but conditions can often get messy with onshore winds, so keep an eye on the wind forecasts.
It's worth mentioning that when the Mistral kicks in, La Coudoulière can become more consistent, although it might not always be clean enough for good sessions without a sail. In onshore conditions, the beach can get crowded as kite surfers and windsurfers share the lineup. It’s generally a chill spot to hang out, but be prepared for some competition in the water when the conditions are right.
