Madihera surf guide

Madihera is a surf spot located off the islet’s tip, known for its distinct left-hand waves that wrap around the reef. It features two main sections, offering options for various conditions. While it can produce some quality surf, it's not always reliable, and the experience can vary depending on the weather and swell patterns.

The best waves usually come from a southeast swell, but it can also handle southwest directions. Ideal swell heights are around 2 to 6 feet (about 0.6 to 2 meters). Keep in mind that the spot works best with low to mid tide, and expert surfers will find the most enjoyment here. When the wind is from the northeast, you can expect smoother, more manageable waves, while any winds from the south to northwest can make things pretty choppy. The outside can have some sucky, barrelling sections, but it’s the speedy inside walls that often attract surfers looking for a quick ride.

Aside from the surf itself, Madihera is known to break over dead coral, so it’s essential to stay aware of your surroundings. Surf conditions can vary, so it's always good to check the forecast before heading out. This spot is primarily suited for those with experience, so make sure you’re comfortable on your board before you paddle out.
