Surf: Tufts of reef hold the sand at the southern end of Milford, allowing lefts and rights to form without closing out like the rest of the beach. Can be sucky and fast when the NE swell finally shows up. Directions: Milford Reef is located in the suburb of Milford, north of Devonport on Aucklands East coast. From Auckland, head north on Auckland Northern Motorway, State Highway 1, over the Auckland Harbour Bridge. Take exit 419, then turn right onto Northcote Road. Turn left onto Taharoto Road, then right onto Shakespeare Road. Continue onto Omana Road, then straight onto Ihumata Road. Turn left onto Milford Road, down to the beach and the reef is right out in front. Environment: All facilities at the northern end.
