Narooma surf guide

Narooma is a surf spot located along the southern New South Wales coast. It features a few waves suitable for different skill levels, but don’t expect it to be a world-class destination. The area has some notable spots including the Breakwall, Bar Beach, and Kianga. Depending on the swell, surfers can find something to ride, but it’s not always perfect.

The best conditions often come with a southeast swell direction, while it can also pick up swells from the northeast and south. The waves work well at sizes around 1ft (0.3 meters) and tend to break over sand, providing right-hand waves mainly. Ideally, you'll want to surf during low to high tide with the best winds coming from the west. This spot suits intermediate surfers who can handle varying conditions.

When you're out in the water, keep an eye out for rips, especially at the Breakwall. It’s also worth noting that sharks can be present in the area, so be aware of your surroundings while you enjoy your session.
