Palm Point surf guide

Palm Point is a popular surf spot located off Western Avenue and Paseo del Mar. There are two main breaks here: a rocky right point called Palm Point and a jetty peak. It's known for being crowded, so get there early if you want to snag a few waves. The parking situation mostly involves paying, though you can find some limited free spots on the bluff.

The rocky right point works well with any west swell, and it’s best with southwest swells when the tide is low, typically handling wave sizes between 1 ft (0.3 m) and 2 ft (0.6 m) overhead. The wave breaks over boulders and tends to offer a fun right-hand ride. If you're looking to surf the jetty, it's best during higher tides with small to medium-sized southwest swells. Both spots provide decent conditions but can get pretty busy, especially on weekends.

The preferred wind direction is from the northeast, which helps clean up the waves. Whether you’re hitting Palm Point or the jetty, be ready for some competition in the water. It's a spot that caters to various levels of surfers, but be courteous, as the line-up can get pretty packed.
