Playa de Tres Piedras is a sand-bottomed beachbreak that peels both left and right. Compared to nearby Regla, it tends to run a bit more consistently and squeezes extra size out of the same swell, which makes it a handy option when you want a little more push on the wave.
When It Works
The bank draws swell from south through west-southwest to northwest (S-WSW-NW), and it comes together best on a southwest (SW) swell. It works from 0.3 m / 1 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft, so there's a usable window from small, playful days up to chest-and-head-high surf.
Wind and Tide
Look for a northeast (NE) offshore wind to clean things up. The beach breaks across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call. As the tide climbs, the shorebreak can turn hollow, so time your session if you're after a punchier wave or want to avoid it.
Local Tips
The gentle beachbreak setup suits beginners looking for a forgiving place to surf. It sits by a small beach community but still pulls in a fair few surfers, so expect some company in the lineup when it's on.
