Cadiz surf guide

Surf: General: The town beach Playa de Santa Maria del Mar is hemmed in between two rocky groynes, that help the sand collect and give the banks a bit of form. A small beach with short, intense waves and a large intense crew. Best low to mid as gets backwash at high and closes out when big. Tides: All tides except high when back washy. Size: Waist to head high. Wind: E Swell: SW, W, NW Bottom: Sand Paddling: Pretty mellow. Spot Rating: Short, wedgy lefts and rights - not a classic but fun. Access: There's no real parking. Crowds: Crowd Factor: Small spot with big crowd. Local Vibe: Competitive, intense, some localism. Environment: Not great, very bad after rains. Hazards: Main city spot so can be human soup. Season: Needs a bigger swell so better autumn through to spring - Sept - March.
