Punta Left surf guide

Punta Left, also known as Big Star, is located about a 10-minute ride or 4 km (3 mi) along a bumpy road. This surf spot is a left reef break that can be a bit tricky. It mainly catches the big N-NE swells, making it suitable for experienced surfers looking for a challenge.

The optimal swell direction for Punta Left is NorthEast, but it can also handle swells coming from the North and NorthEast. The waves generally start to break at around 2 ft (0.6 m) and can get much bigger. Expect an uneven reef below, which is something to keep in mind when you're paddling out. If you're planning a session here, the preferable wind direction is SouthEast. It can work with low, mid, or high tide, but you’ll want to be on your game as this spot is best suited for expert surfers.

Booties are recommended since the reef can be rough. Make sure to check the conditions before you head out, as this spot can have a lot of power in the water.
