Union is a pretty accessible surf spot located near the mouth of the estuary in Lanuza Bay. It’s the easiest village to get to in the area, making it a go-to for surfers looking to catch some waves. The overall vibe is laid-back, and you can usually find yourself enjoying the surf without a crowd around.
The surf at Union mainly offers mushy beach breaks that are decent for beginners. It's best with a NorthEast swell, but it can also handle swells coming from the East. The waves can vary in size, working well with swell sizes starting around 1ft (0.3 meters). You can catch waves that break both left and right, which is great for working on your skills. For the best conditions, a SouthWest wind is preferred, and you can surf here at low, mid, and high tides.
Since Union is typically less crowded, it can be a great spot for those just starting out or wanting to practice. The sandy bottom makes it a nice place to learn without worrying too much. Just remember, when the swell is small, it's a perfect time to get out and have fun on the water!
