Shidashita is a popular surf spot located in Japan that attracts many surfers due to its competitive line-up. It can get pretty crowded, especially in the summer, as a lot of shortboarders like to session here. The area is known for its punchy waves and the occasional barrel, similar to what you'll find at Torami. Just over the southern breakwall, there’s a break called Seagull Mai, formed by dumped fishing nets that help create sandbars.
The surf here works best with a southeast swell direction and can also handle swells coming from the northeast and south. You can ride waves that start from around 0.3 meters (1 ft) all the way up to larger sizes. The waves break over sand and offer both left and right options, making it a good spot for various surfers. Wind from the west is ideal, and you can surf at low, mid, or high tides. However, this spot is really suited for intermediate surfers, as it can be a bit challenging with its competitive vibe.
Getting to Shidashita can be a bit tricky in the summer since parking is limited. Most surfers pay to park at local surf shops, so plan accordingly if you're heading out. While there are all the facilities you might need in the area, parking can get crowded during peak times.
