Overview
Totem Reef is a left-hand reef break that peels over live coral on the west coast, sitting just past two stretches of beachbreak. It rewards intermediate surfers who are comfortable riding waves over a coral bottom.
When It Works
Totem Reef draws swell from south through west, with southwest swell the best match. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 3 m / 10 ft and stays moderately consistent when the swell lines up. The left should keep breaking through the northeast monsoon.
Wind and Tide
Look for southeast offshore wind to groom the face clean. The reef can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
Expect a quiet lineup, so there's plenty of room to find your own waves. The wave suits intermediate surfers best.
