Surf: Many Cariocas consider Saquarema to have the most consistent, quality waves in Brazil. To the west of the lagoon channel, Praia da Vila piles up sand off the point with a peak and a left that can get hollow and hard-breaking on a moderate swell with E in it. Nice intermediate-friendly walls when smaller. Environment: Pollution from the lagoon outflow and heavy weekend crowd.
