Surf: A SE swell is the signal for Whananaki North, where long peeling lefts on low to mid tide rivermouth sandbars produce nice whackable sections but close-out over 6ft (2m). The Bar as it's known, is a pretty rare bird, so crowds flock when it's on. Environment: Rivermouth so rippy on the outgoing tide. Empty Whananaki South has good beachies on its day.
