Ynyslas / Borth is a long stretch of beach located in Wales, known for its sandy shores and a variety of surf conditions. This spot offers a mix of beach breaks and is popular among local surfers and visitors alike, especially during the summer months. The beach runs parallel to the picturesque landscape, providing a relaxed atmosphere for those looking to catch some waves.
The surf here mainly works best at the Ynyslas end when the swell is coming from the SouthWest. Borth can also pick up swell from the West. The waves generally handle sizes around 2ft (about 0.6m) and break over sandy bottoms, giving surfers the chance to ride both left and right. For optimal conditions, mid to high tide with an east wind is preferred, making for a more enjoyable surfing experience.
When heading to the beach, parking is available along the road, especially near the lifeguard hut, but it can fill up quickly. There are also car parks further north if needed. A few things to watch out for include rusty groin struts at high tide, and there's a submerged fossilized forest visible at dead low tide, so keep an eye out for those! There has been talk of a proposed artificial reef, which could potentially enhance the surf conditions in the future.
