A-Frames surf guide

Drive farther south from Meacom's Pier, and you'll find A-Frames. It's not a spot to get too hyped about, but it does have some charm. The name comes from the A-framed houses nearby, but don’t expect something special out in the water. The main draw here is the stretch of open beach, so if you’re looking to catch some waves without the hassle of crowds, this could be a decent place to check out.

When it comes to the surf, A-Frames handles swell sizes from about 1ft (0.3m) to 7ft (2.1m). The waves break nicely over sand, offering beach breaks that can go right or left. Most of the time, you're looking at waist to slightly overhead waves when conditions are right. The best swell directions to watch for are South, Southeast, and East-Southeast. Wind from the North, Northwest, or West-Northwest is preferable, while tide heights from low to mid can be the most enjoyable. Whether you're a beginner, intermediate, or expert, there might be something for everyone, although the waves won’t always be consistent.

Accessibility is easy, and you’re likely to find it quite empty out there, giving you plenty of room to paddle around. Just keep in mind that drift sessions are a common theme here due to the strong longshore currents. A-Frames probably isn’t a must-visit location, but if you find yourself nearby during the late summer to fall or late winter to mid-spring seasons, it’s worth a look.
