Blue House is a surf spot located in Ahipara, known for its steep and fast waves. It sits further to the west and is more exposed to the wind than other nearby spots. This area is suitable primarily for experienced surfers due to its challenging conditions. At high tides, Blue House shows its best potential, with waves that are quick and hollow.
The spot works well with swell coming from the SouthWest and West, handling sizes starting from about 2 feet (0.6 meters). The waves break over an uneven reef, with a predominant left direction. While it can have great conditions when the wind is coming from the SouthEast, surfers should be mindful that it's for experts only, given the trek around the point to reach it. It can be ridden at low, mid, and high tides, making it a versatile option for those who know what they’re doing.
Access mainly involves a 4WD vehicle, and while some choose to park in Ahipara and walk around the rocks, the beach itself can be tricky to navigate. If you do opt for a 4WD, be cautious as many vehicles have gotten stuck, especially at low tide. So, plan your trip accordingly.
