Bracklesham Bay surf guide

Surf: General: A continuation of the beach from East Wittering, with similar characteristics so usually its all about the windswell. Better on low tides as high has shingle banks and groynes. Picks up slightly more swell as less blocked by Isle of Wight. Tides: Not high. Size: Thigh high to head high. Wind: N, NE Swell: Big W to SW Bottom: Sand and pebbles. Paddling: OK when small, long paddle when bigger. Spot Rating: Catch it on a rare, clean groundswell and you'll find surprisingly good waves. Mostly messy but fun. Access: Small Beachfront car park on East Bracklesham Drive. Crowds: Crowd Factor: Less crowded than the Witterings. Local Vibe: Chilled, friendly. Environment: OK - can be sewage after heavy rains. Hazards: Groynes, rips. Season: September - February.
