Whitecliff Bay - I.O.W surf guide

Whitecliff Bay is a popular surf spot located on the Isle of Wight, facing southeast. It’s known for being reliable when the conditions are right, especially when there’s a good swell. The beach is a nice sandy stretch that welcomes surfers looking for some fun waves. When swells wrap in, riders can often find decent peaks to enjoy.

The best waves usually come in from the southwest, with the spot handling swell sizes starting from about 2ft (0.6m). Surfing here can yield beach breaks that offer rides to both the left and the right. For optimal conditions, it's preferable to hit the water when the wind is coming from the northwest and at low to mid-tide. Occasionally, swells also come from the southeast and west, adding a bit of variety to the surfing experience.

Nearby surf spots, like those in Shanklin, Ventnor, and the Niton reefs to the south, can offer more wave action. These spots might see different conditions, but keep in mind they might be impacted by coastal development, so it's a good idea to check those out as well. Whitecliff Bay is a fun place to ride, but it's always worth keeping an eye on the local surf scene for the best days to paddle out.
