Littlehampton is a beachbreak located just east of the harbour entrance. It’s a spot that can be a bit fickle, so you’ll want to pay attention to the conditions before heading out. The area is accessible, and there’s a car park located right above the beach, making it easy for surfers to drop in and out. Although it can get busy when the waves are on, particularly at the lefts by the wooden groynes, it’s worth checking out if you're in the area.
The surf works best with a south-west swell coming in, but don’t worry if that's not what you get; it can still handle swells from the east and south-west. The spot is best for catching waves that are around 1ft (0.3 meters) and can break both left and right over sand. If you're looking to catch the best waves, aim for high tide as that’s when you’ll find the lefts off the groynes really firing. When the winds are coming from the north, that’s typically when the waves are cleaner and more enjoyable.
In terms of surf conditions, you’ll find that Littlehampton is suited for both beginners and experienced surfers, though it can be crowded when the conditions are right. Keep in mind that it’s essential to be aware of the crowd, especially on nice days when everyone is out to catch some waves. Enjoy the session and be respectful of the other surfers!
