Cacimba do Padre is a surf spot located in a beautiful tropical setting, surrounded by impressive volcanic formations known as the Dois Irmãoes. This beach is one of the most consistent on the island, attracting surfers looking for clean waves and stunning views. While it can get crowded during pro contests, visiting midweek in the mornings usually means you'll have plenty of space to enjoy the waves.
The surf at Cacimba do Padre mainly works best with a NorthWest swell, but it can handle swells from the NorthEast too. You can catch waves here that range from small 3ft (about 1m) to massive 15ft (5m), offering powerful, hollow barrels that can really challenge a surfer. Most of the action is found on the lefts, which can get quite mean as they roll in from the outside onto the fine-sand beach. There are rights available, but they don’t get as much focus. When the conditions align, especially with a low to mid tide, you can enjoy some fun waves breaking over the sand.
This spot is definitely for experienced surfers, so if you're still learning, it might be better to stick to spots closer to town. Make sure to bring a couple of strong boards since the waves can pack a punch. Cacimba do Padre is all about the thrill of surfing, so it’s good to be prepared for the powerful conditions that come your way.
