Depot Beach is a cool surf spot that you can reach by driving through some bushland. It's not super crowded, so you'll have a better chance at finding some nice uncrowded waves. The area is pretty scenic, with a mix of reefs and beach breaks around, which gives you plenty to explore when you're not in the water.
The surf at Depot Beach works best with a southeast swell. You'll find it handles swell sizes from around 2ft (0.6m) and can pick up some energy from northeast and south swells too. The waves break over sand, and you can catch both lefts and rights. The best conditions usually come with southwest winds and can work across all tide heights—low, mid, or high. Keep in mind that this spot is suited for intermediate surfers, so it’s a good place to hone your skills without getting overwhelmed.
Off the water, Depot Beach has more to offer than just the surf. The surrounding area is great for exploring, with other surf spots nearby if you want to mix things up. Just make sure to check out the conditions before you head out, as it can be inconsistent at times, but you'll still have a good chance at finding some fun waves.
