Hakashita is a surf spot located around the reef in front of the harbour, which can be accessed easily. It features a decent setup for surfing, especially when the conditions align. The area is known for its boulders and offers some nice waves but isn’t always top-tier. It’s a spot you might want to check out if you're in the mood for a session that’s not too crowded.
This place is best when there's a solid east swell, handling swell sizes starting from around 2ft (0.6m) and up. The waves typically break left and can offer a long ride with the right swell angle. When the tide is low, mid, or high, you can still find rideable waves, but the swell direction from the southeast works best here. If the wind is coming from the northwest, that’s even better for the surf. However, be aware that this spot is more suited for expert surfers due to the boulders and the overall wave conditions.
Parking is quite straightforward, with easy access right in front of the armoured coastline, making it convenient to get in and out after your session. If you're looking for variety, there’s another reef peak just south of Hakashita that’s worth checking out as well. So, grab your board and be ready to put your skills to the test!
