Kvassheim is a surf spot located on the Jæren coast, well-known among surfers who appreciate its unique conditions. It offers some quality waves that can be quite enjoyable, especially for those with a bit of experience. The area can get busy during peak times, but it’s still a good option for a session if the conditions are right.
The waves at Kvassheim typically favor a southwest swell, with good breaks seen at around 2ft (0.6 meters) to larger sizes. You can expect right-hand point waves that break over boulders, making it a fun ride for intermediate surfers. The best paddling conditions arise when the wind comes from the northeast, and it’s advisable to hit it during low, mid, or high tide for the best results. However, it's worth noting that the quality can drop when swells come in from the north of west, leading to tough paddling and diminished shoulders.
Accessing Kvassheim has changed recently due to a new nature protection area, so you'll have to park by the road and walk to the waterfront. Just remember to shut the gate when you're passing through. Also, you won’t be able to surf here from October 1 to March 31, primarily due to concerns about migrating birds. If you plan a trip, consider camping at Brusan Beach, which is just a short drive away.
