Les Boulassiers surf guide

Les Boulassiers is a surf spot located south of La Brée les Bains. It's known for its mellow left-hand waves that are best enjoyed during certain conditions. The area can see some crowds on those lucky days when the swell hits just right, making it a bit of a local favorite, though it's not your go-to spot every day.

The waves here generally work well with swell sizes starting from around 2ft (0.6m) and can go up to more than 3m when the conditions are perfect. The optimal swell direction is from the Northwest, but it can also handle swells coming from the West and Northwest. The point offers some rights as well and usually peaks wider, which adds to the fun. For the best experience, you'll want to hit it during high tide, especially if you're at an intermediate skill level.

Keep in mind that these waves break over uneven reef, which can make for an interesting ride. The ideal wind direction is from the Southwest, as it helps to clean up the surf. On those rare days when the swell wraps around the island properly, it’s definitely worth paddling out!
