Mocambique surf guide
Surf: General: Mocambique Beach is the island's biggest beach, stretching about 8.5 miles on the northeast coast. Driving along, there are many access points from the paved highway where you can pull up and check the surf, and the beach's shifting sand bottom can offer up some hollow peaks up to head high when conditions are right. The wide-open beach also helps spread out the surfers, so it's a good place to find waves to yourself. The middle stretch of beach seems generally to be the best, although when solid east swells come in try the far north end of the beach, also known as Ponta das Aranhas or Praia Grande. There, two small islets just offshore trap the sands, and there can be some great lefts. The area is popular with Argentine sunbather tourists in the summer months. A nice, pretty beach to relax and have a fun surf.
