Surf: Pitangueiras is a very consistent spot, making the most of any swell direction, but it’s popular and a fight for every wave. There are four main peaks; Canal & Monduba are usually fuller, while it's hollower at Ilha and Canto do Maluf, which is the NE corner of the beach on the other side of the island. Can have some chunky barrel sections before closing-out and there's a good shorepound to keep the swimmers occupied. Environment: Hemmed in by high-rise and the rocks in the middle separate Pitangueras from Asturias. Pitangueiras is home to the world champion Adriano de Souza.
