Praia da Vila surf guide
Surf: It is in Imbituba where the biggest waves in Brazil are to be found at Praia da Vila, which holds chunky rights on an outside reef in E to S swells. It's more of a steep, grunty, rolling wall than a barrel, but requires skill and know-how to negotiate when it gets to the double-overhead mark and more. When it is smaller there are lefts running down the sandbars built off the northern island and various peaks along the rest of the beach which can get hollow. Mid tides, any N winds and any swell over chesthigh will attract thick competitive crowds.
Environment: Some heavy rips through the paddling channels make it an advanced spot at size.
