Sunset's is a surf spot located on LHI, famous for its powerful waves, particularly when a serious Northwest swell rolls in. This spot is known to hold waves up to 15ft (5m) and attracts experienced surfers looking for a challenge. You can access it via Erscott’s Passage, but keep in mind that the setup can be pretty disorganized at times.
This spot really comes alive with a Northwest swell, but it can also handle swells coming from the South. Expect some gnarly right breaks over the Live Coral, and if you time it right, with mid to high tide, you could catch some long walls to ride. The preferred wind direction is Northeast, which can help shape the waves better. Just remember, this is an expert-only spot, so make sure you’re ready for the challenging conditions.
It’s worth noting that Sunset's can be very inconsistent, so don’t be surprised if the surf isn’t always firing. It’s best to check the conditions regularly to maximize your chances of scoring a good session here.
