Table Top is one of the first waves you’ll hit as you come around the northwest corner of PR, just north of Surfer's Beach. The name suits it well; the flat, exposed reef does resemble a table. This spot offers a serious right-hand barrel that can catch you off guard. Right in front of a cliff, it ensures that at some point, you'll probably wipe out. If you know how to ride it, the takeoff is tight, and you're going to want to be pulling in for that barrel.

The surf here is pretty solid when it's on, with waves ranging from about 1.5 to 3 meters (5 to 10 feet). It really thrives on an optimal swell from the Northeast, but it can still handle swells from the Northwest and North. The best conditions usually come with a southeast wind, and lower tides are generally better. You can expect some intense barrels if the swell is right, but it’s definitely not for beginners. This wave is intended for experienced surfers who aren’t afraid of a bit of challenge, especially since the takeoff zone can get crowded quickly.

Accessing Table Top is straightforward: just drive down the hill and park in the dirt lot. Paddling out is a workout, especially if the waves are big. The vibe can swing from high tension when conditions are perfect to a bit more chill when it’s just average. Always keep an eye out for the hazards here, like shallow areas, and sharp coral, so make sure you come prepared. The best seasons to catch reliable swells are late fall through early spring, with late summer and fall also delivering some good tropical cyclone swells. Enjoy the ride!
