Unstad Right surf guide
Surf: Unstad’s amphitheatre bay is home to three waves and has only recently become easily accessible as the tunnel leading to the village (pop 30) only opened in autumn 1995. Unstad Right is often considered a world-class pointbreak and possibly the best spot in Norway when it is on. Large open faces with a powerful pocket that hurtles down the line and plenty of barrel sections in offshore easterlies, but the end section shuts down firmly Needs a clean, longer period, W-NW swell to fire.
Access: Bodø is the nearest major town on the mainland.
Directions: Surf camp, surf shop, check out http://www.frostsurfboards.com/ and http://lofot-ferie.com/surfing/indx.htm, respectively.
Environment: Only experts can handle the speed, rocks and currents. Paddling from the beach is far safer than launching from the rocks. All facilities including surf camp, surf shop/school and log cabin campsite. Breathtaking alpine scenery.
