Zanja Honda surf guide
Surf: Further east, the waves get stronger and bigger; if Punta del Este is 4ft (1.2m), then La Paloma and other Rocha spots will be 6ft (2m). With 6 beachbreaks, 5 pointbreaks and a local shaper, La Paloma is the place to wait for the right swell. Zanja Honda is the best spot with longer lefts and tougher hollower rights over rock and sand. Low tide bares the rocks and if it gets too big, the take-offs are hideous. Any N wind and more S in the swell ideal. The adjacent beachbreak at Corumba can get hollow with a dumping shorie but it's wide and peaky offering stress-free options for all including the local surf schools.
Environment: Itβs also called Playa Solari and is one of the few places where a little localism exists.
