Andrómeda is a hollow, powerful right that breaks over uneven reef. It holds size well, staying rideable up to around 9 ft (2.8 m), and sits close to the harbour and tanker terminal, so the water here is not always pristine.
When It Works
The reef pulls in swell from the south through west-southwest to northwest, and it lines up best on a southwest (SW) swell. It works from 1.8 m / 6 ft to 3 m / 10 ft, so it wants a decent amount of size to get going. Expect it to break moderately consistently across the season.
Wind and Tide
Look for east (E) offshore wind to clean it up. The wave can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
This is a solid pick for intermediate surfers who want a powerful right. The lineup tends to stay fairly quiet, so you should find room to move around when it's on.
