Huáscar surf guide

Huáscar is located about 10km (6mi) south of the city center, in the area known as the discotheque sector. This surf spot is a left point break that really shines during the summertime. That's when the northern swells roll in and can reach heights of 6-15ft (2-5m), making it a decent choice for surfers looking for some fun waves.

The optimal swell direction for this spot is Southwest, but it also handles swells coming from the South and Northwest. Huáscar does pretty well with swell sizes starting at around 4ft (1.2m) and works best at low to mid and high tide. The waves here break over uneven reef, so intermediate surfers will be the most comfortable surfing this spot. On a good day, you can expect some solid lefts that can be quite enjoyable.

The consistency of the surf here is mid-range, which means it’s not always firing but you can catch some good days. Crowds can vary, so it's best to check the conditions before heading out. If you're thinking of spending some time here, you might want to check out the Las Garumas camping area just to the north for a place to chill.
