More about Avalanche surfspot

General: Avalanche is a rock outcrop running into a small, sandy bay. It used to be one of Port Elizabeth's premier waves but has also suffered badly from sand loss and breaks infrequently, requiring large swells. It likes a low to mid tide. It starts with tricky takeoff behind the rock before a possible cover-up then into a fast, sucky right. Tides: All tides Size: a few feet overhead to 5x+ overhead Wind: SE Swell: NW Bottom: Rock Reef Paddling: Starts working when it's well overhead... Spot Rating: Regional classic.
