The wave works best with a SouthEast swell direction, but it can also handle NorthEast and South swells. It’s capable of generating waves even at larger sizes, accommodating swells up to about 3 meters (10 ft). The preferred wind direction is from the NorthWest, while the wave can break during low, mid, and high tide. This is a spot mainly suited for expert surfers looking to tackle the big waves. You might encounter some seals hanging around, which are known to follow surfers as they ride.

While not as popular as other surf spots, Escollera Sur can be a solid choice for those willing to seek it out. The sand bottom makes for a different feel than rocky breaks, and when the conditions align, it can be a fun ride. Just be prepared for the occasional lower quality days when the swells aren’t cooperating.
