Mariano, also known as Honu Beach, is a surf spot that grabs attention in the region. It’s a place where the surf can get lively, especially on good days. But you should know that it can draw in crowds, particularly when the waves are small. If you're looking for a less busy session, timing your visit is important.
The waves at Mariano can be quite powerful, often showing short, energetic peaks. It picks up swell best from the SouthEast but can handle some action from the NorthEast and South as well. Expect the swell sizes to vary; it works well starting from around 2ft (0.6 meters) and can go larger. The break here happens over uneven reef and sand. You’ll find both left and right waves, but keep in mind that this spot is best suited for experienced surfers. The wind from the NorthWest usually offers the cleanest conditions, and it can work at low, mid, and high tides.
Be aware that the surf at Mariano can easily get blown out, so if you want to catch the best conditions, it’s smart to head out early. While it's a fun spot, the waves can be challenging, so make sure you’re ready for some intense riding. Happy surfing!
