Horseshoe surf guide

Horseshoe is a surf spot located just north of Marine Street. It’s known for its strong swells coming from the south and northwest. The waves here can be quite powerful, creating a unique and challenging experience for surfers. Generally, the spot is best accessed by walking north along the beach from Marine Street.

The surf breaks over a rocky ledge, producing quality peaks that can handle swell sizes around 2ft (approximately 0.6 meters). With both left and right-breaking waves, it offers options for surfers looking to ride either direction. Mid tide is ideally suited for catching these waves, especially when there’s a solid swell rolling in. East winds are preferable to keep conditions optimal, but it’s worth noting that this spot isn’t for beginners due to the shallow reef and the sharp rocks beneath the surface. You’ll want to come prepared if you decide to hit Horseshoe.

If you're planning to check it out, make sure you're an expert surfer, as the conditions can get heavy and there's little room for error. Locals can be a bit edgy, so it’s a good idea to be respectful and know your skills before paddling out. The consistency of the waves can be hit or miss, but when it’s on, it’s definitely an experience you won’t forget.
