La Source surf guide

La Source is a surf spot known for its unique vibe and is often referred to as ‘the Well’ due to fresh water bubbling up from onshore rock formations. It’s situated in a scenic area, but keep an eye out for some scattered rocks on the inside of the reef. While there are talks of a hotel development nearby, it doesn’t take away from the laid-back atmosphere that surfers enjoy here.

The surf here generally works best with a west swell, but it can handle swells coming from the southwest and north as well. You can expect fun waves around 2 to 6 feet (0.6 to 1.8 meters). The spot offers A-frame waves that can be enjoyable for intermediate surfers. The right breaks tend to hold up nicely towards the cliffs, while the left waves tend to shoulder off towards the beach, making for a good variety. When you’re there, check for the wind coming from the northeast and try to catch the tide at low, mid, or high for the best conditions. The waves break over an uneven reef and some sand, creating both left and right options for riding.

In terms of surf culture, La Source attracts a mix of surfers looking for a mellow session and a more challenging time, depending on the swell. It’s a good spot for those looking to practice their skills without feeling overwhelmed, but still offers enough action for those wanting to push their limits.
