Lagide surf guide

Lagide is a consistent surf spot located on the north side of town. It's easily accessible, with a car park right by the reef. As you arrive, you'll notice it's a popular place, often attracting a fair amount of surfers. This spot is known for its mellow vibe, but don’t let that fool you; it does get crowded, especially on good days.

The waves here are primarily a left-hand reef break that offers some fun and long rides. They generally handle swell sizes from around 1.2 meters to 2.1 meters (4ft to 7ft), so you can expect a variety of conditions depending on the day. The best swell direction is from the west, though it also works well with southwest and northwest swells. The take-off can get a bit tricky, as the spot tends to be competitive, with many surfers vying for the same wave. For a smooth ride, aim for low to mid tides, which make for a more manageable experience. South to southeast winds keep the waves clean, making it ideal for everyone from intermediate surfers to those on shortboards and fish.

While surfing, keep in mind the uneven reef, which can be sharp at low tide, so be cautious. It's also wise to watch out for urchins. The environment around Lagide is generally okay, but just be aware of the hazards. If you're looking to catch some waves, the seasons with the best conditions are typically from September to November and March to May, so plan your surf trips accordingly.
