Praia Azul surf guide
Surf: A quiet and very consistent beach break of high quality with some wind shelter. At the northern end of the bay is a slab reef with hollow, but fickle lefts and a more regular right. Mid-tide is best.
Environment: Water quality is marred by agricultural run-off.
Surf: General: One of the most consistent beaches in the area, this long stretch of sand is home to a number of sandbars and a couple of sand covered reefs. At the northen end of the bay is a righthand reef. Best in small to medium swells.
Tides: Beach all tides, reef mid tide.
Size: Waist to head high.
Wind: SE, E
Swell: NW to SW
Bottom: Sand with reef.
Paddling: Fine when small, can be hard paddle out when bigger.
Spot Rating: A consistent and flexible beachbreak with some fun, walling lefts and rights - plus a right hand reef at the northern end.
Access: Beach front parking and a cliff top car park.
Crowds: Crowd Factor: Popular but a long beach with plenty of peaks.
Local Vibe: Mostly chilled with some humility and respect.
Environment: OK but can suffer from agricultural run-off from the river.
Hazards: Heavy and rippy when big.
Season: Best June to November.
