Short Ledge is a surf spot located on the east side of a deep bay with good anchorage. It's known for its thick high tide barrels, which can make for an exciting surf session. The area is not easily accessible by land, so getting there can be a bit of a challenge, but it’s a worthwhile spot if you’re into some raw surfing action.
The right wave at Short Ledge works best with north-east swell and can also handle swells coming from the north and east. It’s got a solid stand when the swell is around 2 feet (about 0.6 meters) and breaks over live coral. The ideal conditions happen during mid to high tide, making it perfect for expert surfers who are looking for a challenge. For the best experience, aim for days when the wind is coming from the south.
Due to its reef breaks, Short Ledge is definitely not for beginners. Make sure you’re confident in your skills if you plan to take on these waves. The remoteness of the spot also means less crowding, so you can enjoy your time without too much interference from other surfers.
