Spanish House is located right on the beach, just a short walk from a large Spanish-style home that gives the spot its name. This surf break is on the same stretch of beach as Sebastian Inlet, but it’s generally less consistent and needs a bit more swell to really come alive. When it does, you can find some decent barrels, but don’t expect it to be firing all the time.
The wave at Spanish House has a deep outside bar and a shallow inside section, which creates some push that makes it more challenging than the smaller waves further north in Brevard. You can catch waves anywhere from chest-high (about 1.2 meters) to overhead (around 2.1 meters). Prime conditions for this spot are when there’s strong northeast swell, low tide, and offshore winds, as that’s when things can get really fun with barrels forming both left and right. However, when it’s busy, the crowd factor can be significant, especially when the conditions are right.
Access to the spot is a bit limited on parking, though it can fit a decent number of vehicles. If you’re looking for a little more breathing room, consider heading south to Chernobyl's, which can offer a more private session. Just keep in mind that the water tends to be filled with fish, making it one of the sharkier areas in Brevard, so stay aware of your surroundings. This place is best suited for surfers from beginner to advanced levels during the fall, winter, and spring, and it's a great spot for shortboards. Remember, while Spanish House has its moments, it won’t always be perfect, so check conditions before you head out.
