St Louis du Nord is a vibrant surf spot located on the north coast of Haiti. It's a long sand bottom point break, surrounded by a backdrop of tropical foliage and the colorful, tin-roofed houses of the town. The local culture is lively, filled with music that spills out from car stereos and motorbikes. You'll find an interesting mix of rap, reggae, and compas music rolling through the streets, adding to the unique atmosphere of the area.
The surf here can be somewhat fickle and usually needs a solid NE swell to really come alive. When conditions are right, the point can deliver some fun, long right-handers that are great for longboarding, especially during low to mid tides. The optimal swell direction is from the NorthEast, and the spot can handle swell sizes around 1ft (0.3 meters). If you’re an intermediate surfer, you’ll find this place a decent option, particularly when the wind blows from the South.
To get there, simply follow the road east past the first of two rivers in town until you hit the coast. There's a fenced beach car park where you need to pay before you walk up to the point. When you're done surfing, don't miss out on checking out some local eats and soaking in the lively vibe of St Louis du Nord.
