Surfies Point is a surf spot that generally works best with a southeast swell. It needs a bit of that southeast and even some east in the mix to really catch the waves the right way. There are bigger swells that can really get things moving here, especially when it hits double overhead. The wave peaks can shift around a bit, but when it’s firing, you can expect some long, well-mannered walls that run toward the beachbreaks at Surf Beach. You might find a solid left in the corner, which can really tube up at size, but most of the time it’s a nice, rolling ride down the beach.
This spot handles swells around 5 feet (about 1.5 meters) and works best at low to mid tides. It generally breaks over uneven reef, which is something to keep in mind. The waves tend to be right-handers, making it a favorite for surfers looking for a decent point break. North winds are ideal here, as they help clean up the surf and keep conditions optimal. Overall, it’s a solid choice for intermediate surfers, especially if you’re comfortable with a bit of challenge when the waves get bigger.
Watch out for the rocks that can pop up at low tide; they do give some good warnings. It’s way safer than Express Point and is definitely within the range for most intermediates until the conditions start to ramp up. Just keep in mind that when things get big, it can get pretty intense.
