West Point surf guide

West Point is a surf spot located just west of Fraserburgh. It’s a spot that you might want to check out if you're in the area, but it can be a bit unpredictable. The waves here work based on specific conditions, so it’s good to know what to look for.

This spot features a right point break and can provide some decent long rides, especially when the conditions are right. The optimal swell direction is from the Northeast, but you might find waves coming in from the Northwest or East too. West Point can handle swell sizes of around 3 feet (about 0.9 meters), and the waves break over an uneven reef. If you catch it right, the waves can be hollow at times. South winds are preferred here, and the best times to surf are during mid to high tides.

Keep in mind, the reefs along this stretch can be rocky and rippy, so it's always wise to be aware of your surroundings. Make sure to park in Broadsea when you visit. It’s a good spot for those who enjoy the hunt for waves, just be ready for some variability.
