Baixa de Viola surf guide
Surf: Serious big wave peak east of the town of Maia. Jacks up over a bombora style reef with power and purpose, then rumbles along for a good distance, but must be big to start breaking properly. Makes the most of the swell so big boards and experience needed. Very exposed to the wind.
Directions: E of Maia, new concrete rd access.
Environment: Not the place to surf alone but it is always empty. Medium consistency because of the size range. Big rocks and rip currents. New concrete access road and car park. There's also a small swell hollow wedge just out in front of Maia.
